New Parc Mediterrània at the Port of Tarragona, a renaturalised space with play, sports and leisure areas that strengthen the connection between the port and the city.
Need / Problem: The area required more green space, social gathering areas and facilities that encourage outdoor activity.
Solution: Creation of a park featuring children’s play areas, a fitness circuit, urban furniture and bicycle parking.
Result: A greener, more active space connected to both the city and the waterfront.
Parc Mediterrània, inaugurated at the Port of Tarragona, forms part of the transformation of the Port Authority surroundings into a new sustainable, pedestrian-friendly and renaturalised urban space. The project has increased green areas, improved walking and cycling mobility, and created a new meeting point by the sea.
BENITO contributed to the project with the installation of a playground made from robinia hardwood, a durable material that integrates naturally into the landscape. The area includes ROY 11 balance structures, ROY 107 modular play units and swings, designed to encourage activity, exploration and shared play.
The space also features a Work-Fit fitness circuit, entirely made of wood, allowing users to combine walking or running with physical exercise and promote healthy lifestyles.
The project is completed with Universal bike racks, creating comfortable gathering areas and encouraging more sustainable mobility.
